CAUSES OF DEATHborn May 12, 1881 in Russia died February 22, 1953, in Newark, NJ - age 71 years. Father: Louis Feldman Mother: Dinah Feldman Spouses: Augusta Schrager (1894-1925) and Rose Solinger ( -1938) Cause of death: Cardiac Failure On August 31, 1936, when she was 22 years old, Jennie "Kit" Cannizzaro married Matthew "Matty" Feldman, a classmate of hers at both the high school and college. Matty was born in New York City on May 20, 1914. At the time of the marriage, he was employed as a garment worker. His parents were Meyer Feldman and Augusta "Gussie" Schrager. Gussie died when Matty was 11 years old. Meyer remarried, to Rose Solinger. The family lived at 106 Atlantic Street in Keyport. Meyer was 5' 6" tall, weighed 165 pounds, with blue eyes and brown hair and had a ruddy complexion. He worked at Louis Rothenberg's Keyport Shirt factory. It must have been a rough occupation. In 1917, it's recorded that he had lost the third finger on his right hand. By 1942, he had lost the fourth finger, as well. Meyer suffered for many years from Arteriosclerosis (hardening of the arteries). He was 72 years old in February of 1953 when he entered Beth Israel Hospital in Newark, New Jersey to have his leg amputated, but he died of a heart attack during the operation on February 23, 1953. He was buried at Mount Lebanon Cemetery in Iselin, New Jersey. |
