Rosalia "Rose" Toscano Straniero Birth Record
Many thanks to Gonzalo Membrana who sent me this document stating that Rosa Toscano was born in Catania on March 9, 1898.
We are relying on Gonzalo to read and verify this information. Furthermore, Gonzalo explains the term under her name (Esposta)
and interprets some of the other data in the document.
Esposito = foundling = An infant that has been abandoned by its parents and is discovered and cared for by others.
In few words what it says is: That in the "ufficio provinciale di el esposito" (foundling house) in Catania, on March 9 1898,
a woman, named Anna Jonte (probably the midwife), presents a baby of parents unknown
(the parents are abandoning the baby), and they assigned the name "Rosa Toscano"
