Gary Vanderwiel Grave at Saint Gabriel's Cemetery

Several years ago, I was able to locate Uncle Gary's unmarked grave with the help of the cemetery director. I always felt that Uncle Gary, as a World War II Navy Veteran, deserved a marker identifying his grave. Around June of 2023, I attempted to have the Veterans Administration provide a stone marker for him. This required me to obtain his military records, a request that took several months to receive. It then took another 10 months for them to actually order the marker, and it finally arrived at Saint Gabriel's Cemetery in November of 2024. The final placement of the marker was coordinated by Richard Holton.
